Steve walking over to the bikes. Check out the fanny pack!
Jevan and Steve at the starting line.
Steve and me just before the race.
The racers all lined up (only about 300)
Notice the helicopter right above the racers... There were at least 5 of them flying around, following the race. We're totally getting one before the next race. That would be awesome!
Spectators and the start banner
I think these were the pros. I like the start the best (probably cause that's the only part we get to see!)
It was way dusty!
Now the amateurs are off. That is the class Steve and Jevan are in.
I don't think I got Steve in this picture, but we can pretend!
Here is Steve coming in to pit. They did a 55 mile loop, had a pit stop, and then had another 25 mile loop.
Steve was having trouble with his suspension, so he decided he would be done and not do the rest of the race. He said it was way rocky and his suspension wasn't adjusted for that kind of riding, so he was getting thrown all over the place. He stopped once to adjust the suspension, but it didn't help.
He didn't have fun at all and said it was too dusty. I was just glad that he came in in one piece! They both got great starts, but that was about all they had going for them. Jevan did good until he came to pit and his bike wouldn't start. He had to have a couple guys push him to get started. He was having problems with his battery. In the last loop, his bike died and took a while before someone could help him. His still did good considering the circumstances.
After the race, we went to the hotel to get cleaned up and then went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It was so good!
Jevan and Michelle (Michelle got a little sun on her face!)
Steve and me.
