So tonight, Steve and I rushed Harper to the hospital with what we thought was a fever. We had put her pajamas on and Steve was snuggling her in a blanket to get her to go to sleep. He felt her head and she felt really warm, so we took her temperature on her forehead and in her armpit. The armpit one read 99.4 and Steve had heard to add 1 degree to the armpit temp, making it 100.4. Steve called his mom (who works for a pediatrician) and she said to take her to the ER. I was so worried the whole way in. When we got the ER, they took her back within a few minutes and started checking her out. Everything looked fine. They took her temperature rectally (which they said is the most accurate) and it was normal. We sure felt stupid, but it was nice to know that everything was okay with our baby! She was a little more fussy today too and I think I was a little paranoid since we took her to Brooklyn's elementary school yesterday.
I guess it's better to be safe than sorry and we were just happy to take home a perfectly healthy baby!
