Ice Cream Cone

Today was my last day of work. I got laid off. I actually volunteered to be laid off. The company went downhill pretty fast and they just had too many employees and not enough work. So our boss talked to each of us individually and I brought up being laid off (cause they had laid off a girl that was going to have a baby soon and they don't offer maternity or anything so they asked her if she wanted to be laid off and she did). I will be going to school in the fall and then student teaching in the spring and the advisors and everyone say not to have a job while you student teach (if you can help it). And it's been so hard for me to get Harper out of bed every morning at 6:30 and leave her at day care all day. I just want to be home with her. So we decided that I would be laid off so I can collect unemployment and be home with Harper. I feel guilty using unemployment, but if it means being home with Harper then I'll do it. My boss also told me not to feel guilty and there's no shame in it, so that made me feel better about it. My boss said that he'd rather get rid of like 3 other employees and keep me, but he wants to do what would work best for me too. I just hope I made the right decision.
After work, I picked Harper up at Best Friends. They are sad that she's not going to be there anymore. It has been such a great day care and I'm so thankful I was able to take Harper there.
Then we went up to mom and dad's. The Copes came today for the weekend, so we hung out with them and mom and I made strawberry jam. Monica had a softball game at Willow Park, so we went to that. Then we went to Macey's after for an ice cream cone.
