Sleepover and cousin Courtney

Jason went to scout camp this week and had to drive their car. Amy has Fridays off and is car-less and husband-less, so her and the boys slept at my house last night. I took today off to hang out with them. Also, my cousin Courtney is driving across the country and wanted to stop in and meet us, so I offered for her to stay at our house. I remember my cousins (my dad's sister's family) coming to our house one time growing up. I was really little and all I remember was being in the backyard and asking my uncle where Bert was (my uncle's name is Ernie. Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street. I thought I was pretty clever). So anyway, that was the only time I remember seeing these cousins. We recently found each other on Facebook and keep in touch that way. The oldest, Carrie has been in contact with Melanie a little bit and when Melanie and Dave took their family to Disneyland a couple months ago, they went to meet Carrie (who lives in San Diego) and she had offered them to stay at her house (I don't think they did, but they did go and spend some time with her and her family).
So Courtney is moving from New York to Oregon and is driving a Uhaul across the country! She had sent us a message on Facebook that she will be coming through the Logan area and would love to meet us, so I offered for her to stay at our house and she accepted. Her friend, Shannon met up with her somewhere along the way to drive the rest of the way with her. They got here last night around 11:00ish (Courtney had called earlier to make sure it was too late for them to be rolling in and I told her that would be just fine). Monica came out for awhile to see Courtney since she had to work today and didn't know if she would get to see her. We stayed up for awhile and visited. We let Courtney and Shannon sleep downstairs where it was dark and cool. Amy and the boys slept upstairs in the living room.

Harper was the first to wake up and she woke me up. Then Nixon and Amy.
Nixon and Harper played in her crib for awhile, they were being really crazy!

Then Owen finally woke up
Owen really liked Courtney and Shannon and could not wait to play with them some more (he was still awake when they got here last night and he loved showing them his moves and talking to them) so we let him go down and wake them up. They said this was the latest they had slept in (I think it was around 9:00), but I think they needed it!
We got the kids some breakfast and they played for a bit while we all got ready.
Owen, Harper, and Nixon (Harper loved having company over and people to play with).
Courtney and Shannon are runners, but we aren't so much and couldn't really go on a run with them and the kids, so we took them on a little nature walk up Logan canyon. It was really pretty, but got really hot really fast.

The rivers and lakes have all been really high this year from all the snow and rain we got. There have been some flood warnings and a few kids have drown in rivers this year, so we were kinda nervous to take the kids, but they did good. Harper and Nixon were in the strollers and Owen got piggy-backed most of the time by Amy and Courtney.
Amy let Owen and Nixon throw rocks in the river for a minute. Nixon loves throwing rocks in the water!

After our walk, we were hot and really hungry, so we went to True Aggie Cafe on Main Street. We thought we'd take them somewhere kinda unique and Cache Valley-ish, but it ended up being kind of a bust! They are both vegetarians and every sandwich on the menu had meat on it, so they were going to get a veggie pizza, but they were out of pizza crust. So they had to create their own sandwiches and I don't think they were too impressed! It was my first time there and I thought my sandwich was pretty good, but I don't know that I'll ever go back. I ordered Harper a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that had either mayonnaise or butter on it and sooo much peanut butter. It was making me sick just looking at it. She ended up eating more of mine than she did of her own.
When we were done, it was 3:00 and Monica was off work, so Melanie got off work and went up to mom's with Monica to meet Courtney. We got a couple pictures and a quick visit in, but then they had to get going.

It was so good to meet Courtney again! I'm glad she stayed with us and that we got a chance to visit with her and catch up a little bit. We hope to meet up with all them sometime. Apparently Carrie is really organized and bossy (coming from Courtney) so we are putting her in charge of arranging a get-together for us!
Oh and Happy Birthday to David S. today!
