Jackson Hole

Monday, July 25
Steve has a few days off work this week so he borrowed his friend's Harley and took me on a road trip up to Jackson Hole! We dropped Harper off at mom and dad's about noon and went on our way.
We only had two saddle bags for our luggage so I had to pack really light, which I didn't think was possible, but I ended up with room to spare!
We went through Logan canyon and up through Star Valley. It was really fun and pretty going through the canyon, but after about an hour, my bumb got really sore. We made a drink stop and then a lunch stop and finally made it to Jackson! I was getting so tired before we stopped for lunch and I think I dozed off for a second a couple of times, which can be very dangerous to do on a motorcycle. I have the hardest time staying awake on road trips, so I was glad when we stopped for lunch. The ride got kind of boring for a while for me, but Steve had a blast the whole time. We both got some sun, Steve's tan line on his arms got moved up about two inches.
This is the hotel we stayed at.
We checked into the hotel and watched TV for a bit. I fell asleep for about a half hour. For some reason the ride was really exhausting!
Then we went into Jackson, walked around, and ate dinner. We went to this pizza place that was not very good, but the diet coke was delish! We were both craving Italian and this was the only place we could find, but it was pretty disappointing.
We didn't stay out too late, but we did make a stop at Albertsons for drinks and treats for the hotel.

We decided to go up to Yellowstone for the day. It was a long day on the Harley, but it was cool to be out in the open through Yellowstone.
Here are some scenic pictures along the way.

We didn't have to wait too long for Old Faithful when we got there.
We walked around at Old Faithful for a bit and got some lunch. When we got back on the bike, this buffalo crossed the street right in front of us.
It was a little scary to be that close to the animals with no protection, but he didn't care about us, he just minded his own business.
Then we went to some waterfalls. They were beautiful!
We went down Uncle Tom's trail to see this one. The walk down wasn't so bad, but the walk up was a killer. There were over 300 stairs! I never thought I'd be so excited to get back on that motorcycle after that hike!
It was worth it though! It was so amazing!
After the waterfalls, we started heading out and saw a bunch of cars on the side of a road and a ton of people up on this hill. There was a park ranger there too on the side of the road, so we asked what it was and he said there were 3 bears, but they just looked like bushes. So we decided not to get off, which I regret now, but we did see them from the road on the bike. The one time we see bears and I didn't even take a picture! That was dumb of me!
The sun was starting to go down as we were leaving and the Tetons looked incredible.

The only other animal I cared to see was a moose and we saw one after we had left the park. It was just in this field, so we drove around to the other side...
...and got super close! It was awesome (and a little spooky since moose aren't afraid of anything)!
When we got back, we went back into Jackson to get some dinner. We were both craving pasta again, so the best we could find was a pasta bowl at Dominoes. Since they don't have seating inside, we ate outside on a bench and went back to the hotel.

This morning we woke up, got ready, and went home to get our little Roost-nugget. We sure missed her! She was really happy to see us walk through the door. She had fun with grandma and grandpa and Monica who took her one of the nights for a sleepover.
It was a fun trip, nothing that I'm dying to do again anytime soon, but it was a fun experience. Steve had a blast and is ready to go out and buy his own Harley!
