Every year for our birthdays growing up, my mom would make me and my sisters birthday cakes. Since my birthday is so close to Halloween, my mom would either make me this witch cake (pictured below) or a "ghost with fire eyes" cake. I always loved the cakes my mom made us.
My mom's birthday is tomorrow and I got put in charge of planning the meal and everything. So, I decided I would make her this witch cake. I had to borrow her cake pan and frosting supplies.
I was pretty worried about baking the cake, but it went rather well. It cooked evenly, came out of the pan nicely, and didn't even crack!
I started to frost it at 9:00 pm. I got done frosting at 1:00 am. It took a lot of time, but it was actually really fun! Some of my "star tips" didn't turn out very good, but I was pretty impressed with my skills.
