Parents for the weekend

Owen eating his breakfast
This was on Friday night, I had tried and tried to get Owen to go to sleep, so we just put in a movie and laid him down. He kept rolling around and couldn't get comfortable, until he found this crazy position and I said to Steve, "This kid is never going to fall asleep" and Steve looked up at him and he was fast asleep within like 3 seconds! It was crazy.
Steve and I tended Owen from Thursday after work through Sunday evening. Amy and Jason went to Oregon for their 5th wedding anniversary. It was fun to be parents for the weekend. Even though Owen is a good kid, it was still a lot of work. He just needed to be entertained and he liked to get into all of our unpacked boxes. I didn't get a lot accomplished, but it was fun to have him and a good break from house work. Thanks Amy and Jason for letting us tend Owen!
Here are some of my favorite Owen moments:
-Eating breakfast with him every morning.
-He was walking around like a drunk china man and fell over so Steve and I started laughing and Owen was laughing so hard that he tipped over on his side, which then made me laugh really hard. Then Owen kept being crazy and looking at Steve just waiting for Steve to laugh at him some more.
-Owen has discovered his private parts so when I changed his diaper, he would reach down "there". So I made up a fun game that he really enjoyed. When he would reach down "there", I would throw his arms up and say "arms up" and then he would put his legs up, so I would push his legs down and say "legs down" He thought it was hilarious and keep doing it so I kept saying, "arms up, legs down" while doing the motions and so he continued to do it while laughing hysterically!
-In Sacrament meeting, we were singing the opening song and he sang along with us and would get really loud at times, but it was too cute!
-Him just snuggling me during the fireworks at the White's house.
-On Friday night, before he finally fell asleep (photo above), it was like 9:45, and Amy said that he usually falls asleep between 9 and 10. Steve's friend and his wife had stopped by and we were playing Rock Band. Then Owen started crying and wanted me to hold him, so I took him into our room and read him a couple stories and his eyelids were dropping so I started to sing him some songs. I was running out of songs to sing and was sick of singing the same ones, but he was so close to falling asleep, so I thought of the "Speckled Frog" song. Bad idea. When I got to the "glug glug" part (that's what I sing anyway), he busted out laughing. So I kept singing and he kept laughing, it was so stinkin' cute!

You are the best!!! Thanks so much for watching him for us while we are away on vacation. We are having a great time, but miss the little man a lot. I don't even recognize him...he looks huge! Anyway, thanks again and can't wait to see you!
