The Great Outdoors

Most of Steve's family went camping this weekend. We went up by Hardware Ranch. This was the first time we'd been camping this summer. We got there Friday afternoon, set up camp, cooked our tinfoil dinners and just sat around the campfire. Instead of S'mores, we got biscuits and wrapped them around the stick, roasted them and then poured honey butter down the hole from the stick. They were pretty tasty. On Saturday, Rob and Josh cooked us a big breakfast: hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. We all went on a 4-wheeler/motorcycle/rhino ride. It was a pretty long ride, but it was fun minus the saddle sore from Steve's bike. Natalie, Josh, Steve and I all saw a bull moose just off the road having lunch. Then we went back to camp and just sat around. The White's left, so then it was just Rob's family, Vaughn, Gwen, Steve and I. Rob cooked us a delish dinner: ribs, dutch oven potatoes, squash and zucchini. Then we all went out on the 4 wheelers again. We saw quite a few bull moose this time! It was awesome! It was dark when we got back to camp, so we built a fire and had S'mores. We were all pretty exhausted so we went to bed. On Sunday morning, we packed up camp, drank chocolate milk for breakfast and headed home at like 9:30 am. It was a fun weekend. It was really nice to get home and shower!

Some highlights from the trip:
~Kamee- being a good example, burned a hole in her shoe and sock from resting her foot on the rocks surrounding the fire (there were coals there from our tin-foil dinners that were apparently still hot!)
~Natalie- every 2 minutes, "Where's Tug at" with panic in her voice.
~McCoy- we were falling asleep and heard blood-curdling screams from McCoy, then bawling and him yelling "It bit my arm," we thought it was a snake or a bear or something. Turns out, it was a bee that had snuck in their tent during the day. He was pretty embarrassed the next morning.
~Steve- getting attacked by a bat that was actually a moth. (His family loves to embellish stories!)
~Gwen and Vaughn- telling us their love story before bed.
