I am still training for a marathon and I have a 1/2 marathon coming up on Nov. 8. So for the past few Fridays, I've been running long distances. I started out with 6 miles, then the next week I ran 8 miles, and today I ran 10 miles. That is the most I've run and it wasn't too bad. I mapped out the course in my car before I ran and planted a water bottle and some power gel gummy things (thanks Ang) at about mile 4. That helped a lot.
This was the beginning of my course. In the distance, that is a pretty steep hill, but it doesn't even look steep in the picture. I used to run the course so that was the end, but last week I felt some discomfort in my knees running down it. I also wanted to switch it up a bit, so I started here and did the course backwards.
It wasn't as cold as it looks in the pictures. It was actually really good running weather.
This is my favorite part of the course. It's just this random wilderness all of a sudden but it doesn't last for very long.
This course is good because it's got a little bit of everything. It's got uphill and downhill, slight incline and decline, flat, aromas of fresh outdoors and Pepperidge farm, country roads and residential (I prefer the country roads.) It took me 2 hours and 5 minutes to run 10 miles today. I know that's a long time, but I thought it would take me longer than that, so I was pretty happy! The very best part of my run today was the cute little boy that was raking leaves and wished me a Happy Halloween. It seriously made my day!
