Angela and I did a half marathon relay in Provo today. Rich did the full 1/2 marathon. It was a cold, snowy, windy day (32 degrees to be exact)! The race started at 8:00 am. Last night, Rich did a drawing for Angela and I to determine who would run first. Angela had to go first (which ended up being the better part of the race according to Rich).
Angela, Rich, and Me

Angela - at the start

Steve driving the kids and me in the mini van. We followed the course of the race, stopped a couple times to take some pictures of Rich and to cheer him on. Then we went to where Angela and I would trade off.

Alexa, Max, and Alex- they were so happy to be pulled out of bed at 7:30 to watch us run!

Here is the trade off. Angela estimated that it would take her an hour and ten minutes. So at 9:05, I got out to look for her down the road and she was almost here. I had to hurry and wave to Alexa and Steve in the van to come take pictures, so they're kinda far away cause there wasn't much time!

Angela had a slap bracelet that she was wearing and she had to slap it on me and I was off! My Ipod decided to stop working when I tried to charge it yesterday, so Alex let me borrow his. His battery was low, but Angela was sure it would have enough left. Well, I only got one song out of it and then I was left with just my thoughts to run with. Kinda boring, but I survived.

The lovely Zazoosh photographer taking pictures of all the runners. I wanted to do this face for the camera guy at the St. George half marathon, but chickened out. Well, I got another chance and I could not pass it up!
Here I am about to pass this old guy at the end.
See ya sucker!

I did it!
I thought I was doing pretty good and keeping a good pace, but was bummed when I came in and the time was 2 hours 22 minutes. Angela did it in 1 hour 5 minutes, so that means it took me 1 hour 17 minutes.
Here are the "Squirly Sisters." That is the name Angela gave us when she registered us. I found these socks when we went to St. George about a month ago. It was Steve's idea that I buy them for the 1/2 marathon, so I did! I should have bought Angela a pair too because when I described them to her, this is what she came up with! They were the only colorful striped ones they had at her store. She was mad at me that they weren't as cute as mine. Sorry Ang! We did get a couple compliments on them and they kept my legs warm, so that was good!
We got 21st out of 25 teams that did the relay! At least we weren't dead last! Rich got 14th overall! He is insane! We didn't win any prices, so that was a bust.
We went back to the Cope's house to get showered. Then we met Amy, Jason, and Owen in Provo for lunch and then we went to Target. Steve and I left from there.
It was a fun weekend!
I think that will be my last big race for awhile. I decided that I don't really like running that much and so why pay a bunch of money to do it?!
