Second Day of Riding

This morning, we got a nice start because our Rangers were already at the hotel. After breakfast, we all headed down and loaded up.

Steve, McCoy, Kayci, & Kennedy - in the parking lot.

Oh, here we all are, just driving to the gas station.

Then we went to Wal Mart to buy lunches and snacks. Only in Richfield are you allowed to drive your 4 wheelers on the road! They had signs everywhere that had a picture of a 4 wheeler and it said, "Share the road." It was pretty cool.

We had to drive through some residential areas to get to the canyon we were going to ride up. We were all just riding along side the road on a little dirt path. Amy was on a 4 wheeler by herself and ran into a pretty big ditch that you couldn't see until it was too late. She went flying off her 4 Wheeler and landed in some weeds. Her 4 wheeler kept going for awhile. She was in front of us, but I was looking to the side, so I didn't see it happen. She got bruised up a little bit, but insisted that she was fine to carry on. We were all so blessed because Marshall was on the 4 wheeler with her, but he kept whining and crying for some reason. So he got in Rob and Kamee's Ranger just before Amy wrecked. We were all so grateful that Amy was okay. It was really scary. She was joking around that she made it down a "black trail" (supposedly really treacherous, but it wasn't even bad) yesterday just fine, but can't even ride on the road.

We got really high on this mountain and it started to snow on us! Thankfully Rob came prepared for all of us! He let me wear his coat and Steve wore one of his wind breakers. Thanks Rob!

Steve - driving in the blizzard.

Amy & Marshall bundled up in the back of our Ranger. They rode with us after Amy's accident.

Rob, Kohler, & Kamee

We stopped here for a minute to get a little more bundled and for a little snack.

Kohler, Rob, McCoy, Kayci, & Kennedy - bundled and ready to continue on the journey.

Vaughn & Gwen - they had it pretty good in their Rhino. It was covered, had a windshield, and a cover for the back.

Once we got a little lower, it stopped snowing, so we ate lunch and just hung out for awhile.
After lunch, Steve led us astray a little bit, but we came across this beautiful lake so it was worth it!

I told Scott to pose on the rock he was standing on and this is what he came up with...

Notice the blue sky in the above picture...yeah, that didn't last. After awhile, the sky grew darker and it started to sprinkle on us, then heavy rain, then it hailed for a minute or so. I thought it was awesome. Knowing we had a hotel and a warm shower waiting for us, I just enjoyed the rain! It would have sucked if we had been camping.

I think Vaughn and Kamee enjoyed it too!

We made it back to the hotel in the rain. Then Steve and I cruised off in the Ranger to return it. It rained on us pretty much the whole way back, but we didn't care. We were having a good time.
We stopped at this gas station in Marysvale to fill it up before taking it back. I thought Natalie would enjoy this picture - the gas station was named Tugs. (Tug is Natalie's son for those of you who don't know.)
Steve and I got to the rental place just as Rob and Scott showed up to pick us up. We had to go pick up Scott's 4 wheeler that Amy was on earlier (we left it at the mouth of the canyon and Amy and Marshall rode with us in our Ranger).
When we got back to the hotel, I took a long, warm shower while Kamee picked up Pizza Hut for us. We just went down to where they served breakfast and ate.
The kids, Rob, and Scott went swimming again, but I didn't feel like swimming after I had showered. So Steve and I played Mancala in our room and went to bed.
