We're having a girl! We finally broke the curse. On Steve's side of the family, the last 6 kids born have been boys. There are a total of 7 boys and 3 girls. On my side of the family, the last 4 kids born have been boys. There are a total of 6 boys and 4 girls.
I grew up with all girls so that is what I wanted first, especially after all the boys (I love the boys in our family, but it's time for another girl). Steve also wanted a girl first. Everyone was surprised when we told them that. Brooklyn and Brinlie Clark love to tease him and he loves to tease them back. Sometimes Brooklyn will just sit on his lap and tell him what she's learned in school, he really loves that. These two little girls have made Steve want a little girl of his own. I think it's cute that he wanted a girl first.
I'm also really glad we're having a girl because a boy sure would have looked silly in the seahorse bikini, the pink rufflebutt, the dresses, and the pink slipper boots I already bought!
We went in for my ultrasound at 2:00. When we got to the hospital parking lot, I told Steve that I thought it was a boy and he said that is what he had been thinking today too.
The ultrasound was really weird, but cool. Honestly, how can they tell where the baby's kidneys, bladder, and stomach are? It's crazy! Steve didn't like when we could see her spine, it was kind of creepy.
She was being stubborn at first and wouldn't move around at all. Finally at the end, she sprawled her legs for us. We were so excited when he told us it was a girl. I couldn't believe it. The ultrasound tech was really nice and good. All her organs and everything looked good and healthy. The amniotic fluid level was good. Her face looked good. She weighs about 12 oz - a can of soda. She was in breach position, which isn't the best, but he said she could easily move out of it. According to her measurements, the due date is right on - Feb. 13. I asked him when I would start to feel her kick and move (I've only felt her a couple times). He said that the placenta is in between us, so it's like a punching bag for her, but I should start feeling her any day now.
He gave us a CD of the ultrasound and some 3-D pictures that he took. (I tried to take a picture of the 3-D picture, but it was turning out good).
After the ultrasound, we started to spread the news!
We celebrated by going to Texas Roadhouse. It was delicious!
We also went to Motherhood Maternity in the mall to try on some pants.
