Steve and I decided that today would be the day we tell our families we're having a baby. My mom has been asking to see our pictures from out trip to Oregon. I kept forgetting to bring my cord to hook my camera up to the T.V. So no one had seen our pictures yet. I took a picture of the ultra sound so it was right after our trip pictures. So as we were going through our pictures, it would just be there at the end.
It couldn't have gone more perfect with my family. We went to my parents house after church. The Copes were there (they had just gotten back from Disneyland and came to pick up Max). Monica was there. Amy and her boys showed up not long after us. We were all gathered in the kitchen talking and preparing dinner. Then Angela hooked up her camera to the T.V. to show us their Disneyland pictures. I waited patiently through their pictures and was kind of getting nervous to show ours. I wanted the Clark's to be there, but I decided it would just be best to show ours right when Angela got done since we were already all in the kitchen and the cord was out and everything. Well, about half way into Angela's pictures, the Clark's walked in. I got really excited that they had made it in time for our pictures.
When Angela was done, I asked if they wanted to see our pictures and hooked up our camera. My mom was chopping celery, so Steve went over and told her he would chop while she looked at our pictures (since she was the one that had been asking to see them). It seemed like it took forever to go through the pictures. But finally the ultrasound came up and it got silent for a minute. Then we were asked if it was ours. My family was all really excited for us. My mom hugged me and told me she was going to go in her room and cry. Angela asked her why she was going to cry and my dad said, "Because her baby is having a baby."
Apparently Alexa and Kenzie already knew. They have been asking me for quite awhile now and I lied to them the best I could, but I don't think I ever fooled them. Alexa was excited to finally hear if from me that I'm pregnant. She texted her friend immediately to tell her. I guess Angela was thinking that I was also pregnant. I guess all my sisters had their suspicions, but I had lied to them all about it. I'm not a good liar either, so it was tough. I think I told Amy a pretty convincing story in Target a while ago.
I'm not really showing yet, but my stomach area has gotten larger, so I've been wearing looser clothes, but I guess my dad said something today to Amy about my belly and she told him not to say anything to me (Thanks Amy!) Amberly was shocked and asked me how it happened (I'm pretty sure she's asked all my sisters that) so I told her to go ask Steve. When she asked him, he told her to ask me and she gave up after that.
It's good to finally share the news and not keep it a secret anymore.
After dinner, we headed over to the White's house for Tug's birthday party. I wasn't sure how we were going to do this one. (We were going to just show our trip pictures again, but we had his party outside, so we weren't sure how we were going to get inside to show them on the T.V.) After Tug opened his presents, we just hung out and talked for awhile and Natalie came and sat by me and asked me if I was going to tell them all I'm pregnant any time soon. So I just told her no, not anytime soon. She left it at that. So I really wanted to tell them tonight after Natalie had just asked. As everyone was getting ready to leave, Steve asked Natalie if we could go in and show our trip pictures on their T.V. Natalie was fine with it, but everyone left except for Vaughn and Gwen. We really wanted to tell everyone at the same time, but Natalie kept saying how she wanted to see our pictures, so we had to show them. So we just showed Natalie, Josh, Vaughn, and Gwen. Steve was doing the commentary on the pictures and was taking forever to get through them. We finally got to the end and when the ultrasound picture came up, it was silent for quite awhile. Natalie was putting together one of Tug's toys so she hadn't looked up yet at it. Then I think Steve's mom finally said something, then Natalie looked up and saw it. They were all so excited for us.
We wished Steve's whole family would have stayed. We didn't really care about showing them our pictures of our trip, but that was the only way (that hasn't already been used) we could think of doing it.
When we got home, I called my cousin Michelle and my aunt Annette to tell them. They were both really excited for us too.
